It floated away many animals. Many people died. Those who survived went on without food for four days. Many children became orphaned and many women become widows. Q.4. Why do Prashanta and other volunteers resist the plan to set up an institution for orphans and widows? What alternatives do they consider?
Ans: The Government wanted to set up institutions for orphans and widows but Prashanta and other volunteers resisted the plan. It was because they thought that in such institutions children would grow up without love and women would suffer from stigma and loneliness.
