The CDC advises you to delay travel until you are fully vaccinated because travel increases your chances of contracting and spreading COVID-19. If you have not been fully vaccinated and must travel, follow the CDC’s recommendations for people who have not been fully vaccinated internationally or on domestic travel.

People who are sick with symptoms of COVID-19, have recently tested positive for the virus that causes COVID-19, or have been exposed to a person with COVID-19 that has been very dangerous to others during travel. If you or any of your travel companions do not travel:
Are sick with symptoms of COVID-19 (even if fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have recovered from COVID-19 in the past).
Have suspected or diagnosed with COVID-19 (even if you don’t have symptoms)
Have lived with someone suspected or diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 14 days (even if they don’t have symptoms).
People who have been cured of COVID-19 within the past 3 months, or who have been fully vaccinated, do not need to self-quarantine and are not exposed to exposure unless they have symptoms of COVID-19. You can travel later.

The CDC may restrict the travel of people who are thought to have COVID-19 or have come in contact with a person with COVID-19 if they plan to travel. State, local and regional health departments and foreign public health authorities may also restrict the travel of infected or exposed people within their jurisdictions.

For all travel, take preventive measures to protect yourself and others, such as wearing a mask for the duration of your trip. You are required to wear a mask over your nose and mouth on planes, buses, trains and other forms of public transportation traveling within or outside the United States, and indoors in U.S. transportation hubs such as airports and stations. Passengers are not required to wear masks in exterior areas of the vehicle (such as open deck areas of a ferry or on the open deck of a bus). The CDC recommends that travellers who have not been fully vaccinated continue to wear masks and maintain physical distance while travelling.

All air travellers arriving in the United States, including U.S. citizens and fully vaccinated people, must have a negative COVID-19 test result or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 before boarding a flight to the United States is needed.
