Process of Election of High Officials

He is selected by the President of India. The President must obviously be restricted to the leader of the party in majority in the House of the People or, a person who is in a position to win the confidence of the majority of the House. 

Governor of a state

He is elected by the President of India on the recommendation of the Union Council of Ministers. 

Chief Minister of a state 

He is elected by the Governor of the state. The leader of the party having the majority in the state Assembly is appointed as Chief Minister. 

Speaker and Deputy Speaker  of the Lok Sabha 

The House of the people, as soon as may be after its first sitting chooses two members of the House to be respectively, Speaker and Deputy Speaker. 

Attorney General of India 

The Attorney General is appointed by the President of India. He must have the same qualifications as are required to be a judge of the Supreme Court. 

Chief Justice and Judges of the Supreme Court 

The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court including the judges are appointed by the President of India after consulting the judges of the Supreme Court and High Courts as he may deem necessary. It is also provided in the Constitution that while appointing a judge of the Supreme Court, he shall consult the Chief Justice. 

Judges of a High Court 

The President of India appoints the judges of the High Courts. In making the appointment, the President shall consult the Chief Justice of India, the Governor of the state and also the Chief Justice of that High Court in the matter of appointment of a judge other than the Chief Justice.  0 0 0
