Power and Functions of the President of India 

(a) He is the executive head of India. 

(b) He is the Supreme Commander of the defense forces of India. 

(c) He makes all important appointments such as those of the Prime Minister, Chief Justice, Governor, and Ministers. 

(d) Any Bill, except Money Bills, passed by the Parliament must receive his assent before it becomes an Act. 

(e) No Money Bill can be introduced in Parliament without his prior assent. 

(f) He can grant, pardon, reprieve, or remit punishment or commute a death sentence. 

(g) He can suspend the whole Constitution or some Articles of it under an emergency. 0 0 0
